The international badminton tournament, Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2009, will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from Oct. 7-11.

The tournament will attract 202 players, including 75 women, from 14 countries and territories to compete in the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles events.

Nguyen Tien Minh from the host Vietnam , who is placed ninth in the world rankings, is tournament’s number one seed.

The men’s singles category has attracted nine others, apart from Tien Minh, who are among the world’s top 100, while the women’s singles will see play by eight athletes ranked in the top 100.

The total prize money up for grabs comes to 50,000 USD, of which 3,750 USD will be awarded to the each of the men’s and women’s champions, and doubles champs will receive 3,950 USD each, in cash./.
