HCM City (VNA) – Police of Binh Tan district in Ho Chi Minh City on June 18 began criminal proceedings against a man and a woman for “resisting on-duty officers.”

They are Pham Thi Thu Thuy, born in 1974, from the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, and Le Trong Nghia, born in 1987, from the Mekong Delta province of Long An. Both are workers of Pou Yuen Vietnam Co., Ltd.

On June 11, Thuy and Nghia joined crowds in the company to throw rocks to on-duty mobile police. The workers confessed that they took the action following others without knowing the reasons. At the investigation agency, both showed repentance.

Local police have also interrogated 30-year-old Le Van Thanh from Tien Giang province. Earlier, Thanh gave himself up to the police, confessing that he had broken steel pipes and delivered them to other workers to attack mobile police.

Police in Ho Chi Minh City has launched criminal proceedings against and issued administrative punishments on 58 people. Others were allowed to go home with guarantors from their families and commitments not to repeating the wrongdoings.-VNA
