HCM City (VNA) – Secretary of the Ho Chi MinhCity Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan met with Lao Deputy Prime MinisterSonexay Siphandone on October 25, noting that his city is to make concertedefforts to promote cooperation with Lao localities.

Nhan, who is also a Politburo member, welcomedthe Lao delegation’s working visit, which is made amid the 40th anniversary ofthe signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation and the 55thfounding anniversary of the countries’ diplomatic relations.

He noted that HCM City will make all-out effortsto enhance cooperation with and assist Lao localities’ development. The cityconsiders this its responsibility for joining entire Vietnam in fostering thetwo countries’ faithful friendship.

Lauding the flourishing special amity, Deputy PMSonexay Siphandone thanked HCM City for its close friendship and coordinationwith Lao localities to organise fruitful cooperation programmes in 2017,greatly helping to educate younger generations on bilateral ties.

He appreciated HCM City’s support to Laos,especially in development assistance, investment and trade, asking the southerncity of Vietnam to continue cooperating with Lao localities, particularly inexperience sharing, manpower quality improvement and investment, therebybringing about practical benefits to Laos.-VNA
