The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union ( HCM CYU) in Ho Chi Minh City will conduct a rubbish recycling programme aiming to raise funds to bring clean water to suburban children, the latest in a range of its activities to protect environment.

The HCM CYU’s municipal committee on June 20 signed a cooperation agreement with beverage producer Interfood Shareholdings Company to implement the programme, starting in July.

Under the programme, discarded plastic bottles and aluminum cans will be collected for recycling while hazardous wastes such as battery, chemical containers will be classified and brought to certain dumping grounds.

This activity also aims to improve the awareness about environmental protection among the public, especially young people and children.

Michio Nagabayashi, General Director of Interfood, said the company signed the cooperation deal as part of its social responsibility for the city’s environmental and social issues.-VNA
