The HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients received 640 hearing aids to help poor hearing-impaired children at a charity programme on Nov. 2.
The event was jointly organised by the Americans Helping Asian Children organisation, the Consular Club of HCM City and Siemens Medical Instruments company.
At the event, as many as 284 hearing-impaired children from 16 schools in HCM City and neighbouring provinces of Tay Ninh, Ben Tre, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau were provided with the devices, each worth nearly 100 USD.
The remaining hearing aids will be donated to poor children in the central region.
Tran Thanh Long, Chairman of the HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients thanked donors for their support in helping hearing-impaired children integrate into the community.
Erdal Elver, President and General Director of Siemens Vietnam, which provided 60 hearing aids at the event, said that Siemens’ advanced technologies will help the children achieve higher academic results and enjoy a better life./.
