Bangkok (VNA) – Security forces in southern provinces of Thailand have been vigilant over possibilities of increasing violence on the founding day of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) rebel group (October 25).

Thai police and soldiers have been placed on alert while control posts were established to conduct examinations of cars passing southern cities upon information of car stealing for bomb attacks.

Some bombings took place in Narathiwat province this week, but there were no casualties.

The BRN is a rebel group active in Thailand’s southern region. Some members of the group formed the Mara Patani movement, which has joined peace negotiations with the Thai Government. However, the BRN declared to boycott the negotiations.-VNA
