Ho Chi Minh City held a solemn ritual to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings - the founders of Vietnam - on April 19, the tenth day of the third lunar month in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The ritual of worshipping the Hung Kings, who ruled the country through 18 dynasties, has been recognised as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, and the public offered incense, paid tribute to the Hung Kings and prayed for peace and prosperity in the country and world.

During the day, many cultural activities took place, attracting lots of local people, especially the youth.

The same day, incense offerings and various activities were organised nationwide to commemorate the Hung Kings.-VNA
