HCM City (VNA) – Authorities of Ho Chi Minh City and the province of Gyeongsangbuk of the Republic of Korea established cooperative ties in the Vietnamese city on December 3.

At the signing ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said the 23-day Ho Chi Minh City - Geyeongju World Cultural Expo 2017 attracted more than 12,000 Korean visitors with music performances, cultural and trade promotion activities, boosting relations between the two peoples on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

He added that the move will facilitate ties across economy, culture and education between the two localities, believing that authorities of Gyeongsangbuk will issue policies to encourage local firms to invest in the city.

Governor of Gyeongsangbuk Kim Kwan-yong expressed his belief that the two localities will have many new opportunities for sustainable development in the future, thereby strengthening ties between the two nations.

Ho Chi Minh City has so far signed cooperation agreements with 48 localities in countries worldwide, six of them in the RoK.-VNA
