The Belgian Beer Festival will be organised for the first time late this month in Ho Chi Minh City, following its first appearance in Hanoi in 2014.
The Belgian Ambassador is expected to introduce visitors to more than 50 Belgian beers, each with its own special glass.
According to the Belgium - Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, which organised the event, visitors can enjoy many varieties, qualities and flavours of beer, from strong and tasteful to fruity and light beers.
Apart from being famous for chocolate, potato fries and diamonds, Belgium has also been recognised as having the best beers in the world for thousands of years.
In April, 2014, Belgian beer was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage.
Jan Segers, board member of Belgium - Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, said while other European countries were famous for wine, Belgium was famous for beer. Every village or area in Belgium has its own type of beer. Belgian beer has been popular in Europe and now Asia, he said.
The festival is expected to attract 2,400 visitors. The non-profit event aims to promote the Belgian beer culture to Vietnamese people and expats working and living in Vietnam.
Besides beer, traditional Belgian fries, waffles, hamburgers, beef stew and Belgian white sausages will be served.
DJs and live music with DJs will also be included. During last year's festival in Hanoi, 1,300 tickets were sold two weeks ahead of the festival. It is expected that the festival will be organised again in the capital in October this year, according to organisers.
The non-profit festival starts at 6:30pm, April 24, at the Cargo Bar, 07 Nguyen Tat Thanh, District 4, HCM City.
Each ticket can be bought at the door, via the hotline 0972.02.9795, or from www.belgium-beerfestival.com.-VNA
