HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City’s consumer price index went up 0.64 percent month-on-month and 3.42 percent year-on-year in October, announced the municipal Statistical Office on October 30.

Among 11 goods categories, eight posted price increases from the previous month; led by education (2.29 percent), transportation (1.71 percent); dining and catering services (0.71 percent); housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (0.29 percent); culture, entertainment and tourism (0.06 percent); post and telecommunications (0.05 percent); household equipment and appliances (0.03 percent), goods and other services (0.02 percent).

During the month, medicines and medical services maintained stable prices. Meanwhile, prices of beverages and cigarettes fell by 0.02 percent and those of apparel, headgear and footwear dropped by 0.01 percent.

Gold prices decreased by 0.46 percent while USD prices moved up 0.21 percent from September.-VNA
