Hong Kong (China) is a potential market for Vietnam’s exports as it tops the world in trade freedom and FDI attraction due to its effective legal environment.

Hong Kong’s Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen made the remark at the seminar “Hong Kong – An International Hub for Legal and Arbitration Services” held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 20.

He said that with 1,200 jurists, 6,000 lawyers and 1,400 foreign professionals, Hong Kong can meet the demand of legal and arbitration services based on not only its law but also international business practices in case international trade disputes occur.

In recent years, two-way trade between Vietnam and Hong Kong has enjoyed positive growth.

According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam earned 357.9 million USD from exports to Hong Kong in January, mostly aquatic products, rice, wood and its products, garments and textiles.

The seminar was jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Ho Chi Minh City branch, the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, with the aim to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to boost cooperation and investment in the market.-VNA
