Hundreds of doctors, nurses and medical students at hospitals in HCM City and neighbouring provinces attended a lecture on emergency aid and nursing at Binh Dan Hospital on Feb. 7.

In addition to the hospital lecture, another 40 healthcare professionals from the Australia - Vietnam Volunteers Resource Group, who were separated into several groups, spoke about the latest nursing and emergency aid treatments at seven hospitals in the city:
Tu Du Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, Children's Hospitals 1 and 2 and HCM City Hospital for Traumatic and Orthopaedic.

According to Vo Thuan Anh, head of Binh Dan Hospital's Nursing Department, the training course has been held annually for two weeks.

Before organising the course at Binh Dan Hospital, the foreign experts had given training at HCM City Children's Hospital 2 on Feb. 6.

In return, team members gain valuable insights into the trying working circumstances and the spirit displayed by Vietnamese health care professionals.

One of the lecturers, Gerry Silk of AVVRG, said the local healthcare professionals have a good level of knowledge and the hospitals have good equipment.

The programme initially supported Vietnamese nurses in 2002. At that time, the course was held at only two hospitals, Binh Dan Hospital and HCM City Children's Hospital 1.

The conferences have evolved to include several other health care professions. /.
