Vietnam held on to its second place spot at the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG 3) on November 6 with 28 gold, 21 silver and 20 bronze medals.

China remained at the top of the medal tally with 38 gold, 19 silver and 16 bronze medals and Kazakhstan came third with 16 golds, 13 silvers and 18 bronzes.

Among the gold medals Vietnam snagged on the day, three were contributed by Beltwrestlers--Bui Thi Khanh Du in the women’s 66kg category, Pham Van Thang in the same category for the men and Pham Van Hiep in the 100kg category.

Vietnam’s Jujitshu & Beltwrestling team also won a silver and six bronze medals in other events, placing it second among participating teams with six golds, five silvers and seven bronzes in total.

Iran took the first place in the demonstration after snatching eight gold, four silver and four bronze medals.

On the same day, the Dancesport competition of the AIG 3 officially kicked off at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi with the participation of 52 couples from 15 countries and territories, including six from the host country.

The pairs will compete in two events, Latin and Standard, with dances such as Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive, Cha Cha, Samba; and Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango and Quickstep.

The dancesports competitions will conclude on November 7.

However, November 6 was a gloomy day for Vietnam’s swim teams as nobody from the host country outstripped rivals from Kazakhstan, China, Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Uzbekistan, India, the Philippines and Iran to enter the finals.

By the third day of completion day, Vietnam had only bagged one silver and one bronze medal, won by number-one swimmer Nguyen Huu Viet.

In Ho Chi Minh City, in the Bowling competition, the RoK pocketed the last two gold medals in the men’s and women’s team events while Thailand took home a gold in the Billiards & Snooker./.
