Hue festival honours traditional crafts

The quintessence of Vietnamese traditional crafts will be honoured during the Hue Traditional Craft Festival, which is scheduled to open in Hue city, in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on April 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – The quintessence of Vietnamese traditional craftswill be honoured during the Hue Traditional Craft Festival, which is scheduledto open in Hue city, in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on April 26.

The festival – which is the eighth of its kind, held by the city’s People’sCommittee – will introduce outstanding products of traditional craft villagesacross the country, including jewellery, embroidery, bronze casting, bamboo andrattan products, Zeng textiles, among others.

The organisers will also arrange a special zone for practitioners of orientalmedicine to give examinations. Meanwhile, the craft of making Ao dai(traditional long dress) will be honoured, and ao dai tailoring services willbe offered to visitors at the event.

Products made from the lotus plant – likesilk, wine, tea, paintings, and conical leaf hats – of artisans from Hue, HoChi Minh City, and Dong Thap province will be chosen as key crafts in thespotlight at this year’sfestival.

Areas will be set up to popularise traditional products of foreign cities.

In addition, fascinating activities will be held at the pedestrian roads of ChuVan An, Pham Ngu Lao, and Vo Thi Sau as well as along the southern bank ofHuong River.

Throughout the traditional craft festival, the city wants to promote the locality’simage and products towards domestic and international friends. –VNA
