Of these, 20 come from Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China.
The food festival is one of many activities hosted as part of the Hue Festival 2014 (April 12-20) aiming to honour and popularise the specialties and cuisines of Vietnam's regions, especially in Hue.
They also hope to further promote co-operation between Vietnam and other countries.
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue is home to the imperial Hue city complex and “Nha nhac” (royal court music), which were recognised as part of the world’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage by the UNESCO.
In 2013, Thua Thien-Hue received around 2.6 million tourists, including over 900,000 foreigners, and gained some 2.5 trillion VND (117.6 million USD) in revenue. The province targets 2.8 – 3 million tourist arrivals and a tourism turnover of 2.9 trillion VND (138.1 million USD) for 2014, a yearly rise of 18 percent.-vna
