Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Hue University in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 9 presented the Honorary Professor title to two professors Kiyoshi Morita and

Kim Doo-chul, who are working at the Okayama University, Japan.

The two professors have contributed to fostering cooperation between the Hue University and Okayama University in training and scientific research, notably the international postgraduate programme on the sustainability of rural and environmental system, which has been implemented since 2007.

Prof. Kiyoshi Morita, the rector of the Okayama University, has also carried out many research projects on community development in Hue, and waste treatment and management of natural resources in Vietnam.

As a coordinator of the Hue-Okayama Postgraduate Programme, Prof. Doo-chul Kim has built and implemented cooperation programmes between the two universities via scientific workshops, exchanges of students and joint scientific research.

The Okayama University and the Hue University established cooperative ties in 2005 and signed an MoU on tertiary training in 2006. The Japanese university has granted scholarships to many students from the Hue University to help them pursue higher education in Japan.-VNA
