A commemoration of the anniversary of the death of the legendary national founders will take place at the Hung Kings Temples Relics Site in the northern midland province of Phu Tho from Mar. 26-31, which falls on the 5 th day to the 10 th day of the third lunar month.
The ceremony includes an offering by Dien Bien and Nghe An provinces and Hai Phong and Da Nang cities and a procession of palanquin from six surrounding communes, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Diplomatic corps will take part in the event on Mar. 29.
This is a significant community-based activity to promote a scientific dossier on “Hung Kings worship rituals in Phu Tho” which is seeking UNESCO recognition as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
This year’s festival also includes a programme on tourism highlighting Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces and renowned Xoan singing.
A delegation of 30 Overseas Vietnamese from 19 nations including Laos , Thailand , the UK , Poland , Finland , France , the Czech Republic , Angola and Malaysia will flock to the Hung Kings festival from Mar. 27-30.
Apart from joining an incense offering ceremony at the Hung Kings Temple, the delegation will visit the northern border province of Lao Cai, according to the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, that arranges the tour.-VNA
