State President Truong Tan Sang has urged Hung Yen province to fully tap its potentials and advantages to become a model in terms of comprehensive development in the Red River Delta.

Addressing a ceremony to mark the province’s 180 th founding anniversary on Nov. 27, President Sang praised achievements recorded by the provincial Party Committee, administration and people over the past years, particularly since the re-establishment of the province 15 years ago.

The 11th National Party Congress adopted a resolution, setting out basic orientations for socio-economic development in a bid to turn Vietnam into a modernity-oriented industrialised nation by 2020, said President Sang.

To reach the target, the entire Party and people, including the provincial Party Committee and people of Hung Yen, need to make greater efforts, he stressed.

The President asked the province to take the lead in the process of national industrialization, modernisation and international integration, thus helping to renew the growth model, restructure the economy and make development breakthroughs.

Apart from fostering fast, sustainable economic development, the province should pay more attention to socio-cultural development, and environmental protection, while maintaining political security, promoting democracy and building a clean and strong political system.

On this occasion, President Sang presented the Ho Chi Minh Order, a noble distinction of the Party and State, to Hung Yen province, in recognition of its achievements./.
