The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on August 21 in the city to celebrate Hungary’s National Day.

Present at the event were municipal leaders, the Deputy Consul General of Hungary in HCM City, Hungarian business representatives, and many Vietnamese who once studied and worked in Hungary.

President of the city’s Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association Le Minh Triet lauded the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries over the past 65 years.

The Vietnamese people will never forget the valuable assistance of the Hungarian Government and people in the cause of national protection and construction, he said.

In the new situation, the bilateral friendship and cooperation have continued to grow on the principles of equality, mutual benefits, and reciprocal assistance for development and international integration.

He added that Vietnam always regards the friendship with Hungary as a valuable asset that needs to be inherited, preserved and developed by present and future generations for the benefits of the two peoples.

Hungarian Deputy Consul General Szecsi Daniel, in turn, expressed his delight at the fruitful cooperation between Hungary and Vietnam in various realms.

The Hungarian people will continue to foster the friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, he said, adding that the opening of the Hungarian Consulate General in HCM City this year has paved the way for bilateral cooperation to expand further.-VNA
