Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Vietnamese singer Huong Tram has won the Best Asian Artist in Vietnam title at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2018 in Hong Kong.

She follows Toc Tien, Dong Nhi, Thu Minh, My Tam, Noo Phuoc Thinh and Ho Quynh Huong by claiming the award.

In a clip presented at the ceremony, Huong Tram expressed her appreciation for all her fans, who she said were the major motivation for her tireless work.

Huong Tram – winner of The Voice Vietnam’s first season in 2012, has achieved several successes over the past year. Following her hit Em Gai Mua (The Rainy Girl) at the end of 2017, which has been listened to by 400 million subscribers on Zing MP3 – Vietnam’s biggest online music site, the singer has released Duyen Minh Lo (Our Love is Broken) and Gui Anh và Co Ay (To You and Her).

To celebrate the sixth anniversary of winning the The Voice Vietnam, the 23-year-old singer will have her first ever concert on January 11 at Hanoi’s Friendship Palace.

“I would like to devote this first concert to all the fans who have followed and supported me from the very first days,” Tram said at a recent press conference.

The concert is titled Hop Thu So 1 (Mail Box No. 1), inspired by her hobby for writing letters that she started as a little girl.

“During my time as a coach on talent shows in recent years, I’ve received a lot of hand-written letters from my students. Every single word has helped me to realise the existence of that old tradition of expressing in the middle of modern life,” she said.

Alongside a production team consisting of several experienced figures such as general director and songwriter Ho Hoai Anh and music director Nguyen Huu Vuong, the concert will also feature the orchestra from the National Academy of Music.

Also at the press conference, the singer revealed that she had spent all her savings on the concert to offer the best to her audience.

Answering why she had decided to hold her first live concert in Hanoi, the HCM City-based singer said she wanted to challenge herself.

“Hanoi audiences are known to be choosy, so I wanted to set myself another challenge by holding my first ever live concert here to see how they welcome me,” Tram said.-VNS/VNA
