The worst offender, Nguyen Xuan Tuan, was born in 1986 in Hanoi. He took part in 14 illegal logging cases with profits of 43 million VND and received highest punishment.
According to a statement by the court, the illegal logging of dozens of sưa (albergia tonkinesis ) trees, was carefully planned and caused public discontent.
From logging “ sua” trees in parks or on streets, they made illegal profits of hundreds of millions of dong.
The court said that the strict punishments would act as a warning for anyone with the intention of committing the same crime./.
