ILO country director awarded trade union insignia

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on Oct. 26 to confer the “For the Cause of Trade Union” insignia to Rie Vejs Kjeldgaard, Director of ILO Country Office for Vietnam.

It is the noblest award of VGCL to honour individuals for their contributions to the trade union cause.

Addressing the ceremony, Dang Ngoc Tung, VGCL President spoke highly ofKjeldgaard’s contributions to promoting and strengthening relationsamong social partners in Vietnam, including the trade unionorganisation.

Expressing close sentiment to theVietnamese trade union organisation, Kjeldgaard said that experienceacquired during her term of office in Vietnam is helpful to her in thenew position.

Since 2008, Kjeldgaard of Danishnationality has contributed to institutional building, policymaking andenhancing capacity of Vietnam’s partners in the fields of labour –employment and social welfare.

Kjeldgaard willfinish her tenure in Vietnam in November this year to undertake theposition of Special Initiative Coordinator for Knowledge Management atthe Geneva-based ILO headquarters this year./.

Over 3,400 administrative procedures, business conditions cut or simplified

Since April, the Government has issued 11 resolutions abolishing 56 conditional business lines. Compared to the 2025 Law on Investment, the number of conditional business sectors has been reduced by more than 28%, from 198 to 142. The resolutions also revised regulations governing 14 conditional business and investment sectors.

Unverified mobile subscriptions hit by service suspension from June 15

Preliminary figures show that more than 93 million mobile numbers had completed ownership verification by the morning of June 15, while over 2 million numbers were identified as not being used by their registered owners.
