The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved a programme to promote Vietnam’s tourist industry on the US cable channel CNN this year.

Under the plan, promotion clips of Vietnam will be shown on the channel in the third and fourth quarters of the year at a cost of 5.3 billion VND (279,000 USD) or 12 percent of the 2010 national tourism promotions budget

The country will also place advertisements in magazines in key markets like Europe, Northeast Asia, China and other ASEAN countries.

In 2009, Vietnam also ran a tourist campaign on CNN and the BBC./.
