The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam launched a programme in Hanoi on June 23 to promote the implementation of anti-corruption initiatives in the country.

The programme is part of the project “Strengthening the implementation of the United Nations convention against corruption (UNCAC) and the role of non-state actors to support anti-corruption efforts” in Vietnam funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

At the launching ceremony, the Government Inspectorate announced ten winning initiatives from Vietnam Innovation Days and a series of Vietnam Anti-Corruption Initiative programmes since 2009.

The initiatives focus on four key topics – public supervision, education on anti-corruption for youth, media coverage and public awareness raising of anti-corruption and improving public service delivery.

The organisers invited entries from all Vietnamese organisations and government units at local levels proposing ways to undertake these initiatives.

The ten most feasible proposals will be awarded and sponsored with 7,000 USD for one year of implementation.

Three workshops will be organised during the first stage of the programme to introduce the initiatives, share best practices and offer guidance to successfully apply them in the community.

In the second stage, the programme will provide financial and technical support for the ten best proposals to be conducted at grassroots levels.

The government inspectorate pledged to work with its partners to expand the implementation of the most effective proposals towards improved transparency, public integrity, accountability, public participation and better public service delivery, said Deputy Inspector General Tran Duc Luong.

Entries can be submitted through November 20 this year.-VNA
