India has become Vietnam’s 10 th largest trade partner with two-way trade reaching over 2.2 billion USD in the first five months of this year, up 47.1 percent against the same period last year.

Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) website quoted the Vietnam Trade Office in India as saying that Vietnam’s exports to India hit over 1 billion USD, up 72.6 percent and its imports were estimated at 1.2 billion USD, up 31 percent, pushing the country’s trade deficit down by 40.6 percent to about 200 million USD.

Five key items exported to India were telephones and components, which increased 323 percent to 511 million USD); computers, electronic products and components, up 58.8 percent to 79.7 million USD; machinery, equipment and tools, down 29.8 percent to 69.5 million USD); natural rubber, down 12.8 percent to 40.5 million USD); and coffee, up 39.7 percent to 35.4 million USD).

Vietnam mainly imported animal food and materials, corn, cotton, steel, and pharmaceuticals from this market.-VNA
