Indian state eyes multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam

The Indian state of Andra Pradesh wishes to step up cooperation with Vietnam in various areas, especially in agriculture, fisheries and education, said the state’s Governor N.Chandrababu Naidu.

New Delhi (VNA) – The Indian state of Andra Pradesh wishes to step up cooperation with Vietnam in various areas, especially in agriculture, fisheries and education, said the state’s Governor N.Chandrababu Naidu. 

The Governor made the remarks at a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh in Vijayawada city on December 12, during which he spoke highly of Vietnam’s position and potential. 

Naidu informed his guest that Andra Pradesh state led India with an economic growth rate of 11 percent in the 2014-2015 fiscal year. 

Ambassador Thanh lauded socio-economic achievements the Indian state has recorded over the past time as well as its development orientations in the future. 

He used the occasion to invite Governor Naidu to visit Vietnam at a suitable time. 

Later same day, the ambassador attended a meeting marking the 75 th founding anniversary of the Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship which was established with the aim of enhancing cultural ties and friendship between India and foreign countries. 

On December 10, the diplomat held a meeting with Chief of Staff of India’s Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Bimal Verma and visited Visakhapatnam, the state’s largest coastal city which houses one of the most important seaports of India. 

He visited Andhra University, one of the largest and long-standing educational institutes of India, where he delivered a speech on regional cooperation and the strategic partnership between Vietnam and India. 

While in Andra Pradesh, Thanh also met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the state. 

The ambassador paid a working visit to the Indian state from December 10-13.-VNA
