– Indonesia’s Pertamina International EP will start drilling 20 oil wells at the Hassi Berkine oil field, southern Algeria, next May with an estimated output of 30,000 barrels each day.

The drilling is part of a cooperation programme between the Indonesian company and Algeria’s national oil and gas group Sonatrach.

Pertamina currently produces 18,000 barrels of oil per day from joint operations with Sonatrach at Algeria’s Menzel Lejmat North, El Merk and Ourhoud fields.

President of Pertamina Marial Mellia said the company wants to increase the output as much as possible. The upcoming long-term cooperation projects with Algerian partner allow Pertanmina realise this target, she added.

The Indonesian company participated in the third scientific fair of the 11th Scientific and Technical Days (JST 11) held by Sonatrach in Oran city on April 16-19.

The event drew 1,500 delegates from 27 countries, including Sonatrach’s energy partners from France, Italy, Spain and the US.-VNA
