Indonesia allocates 3.4 billion USD for technology-based farming

Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo spoke of the government’s allotment of 50 trillion Rp of special funding under the micro loan (KUR) scheme for farmers to develop technology-based farming, Antara news agency reported.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo spoke of the government’s allotment of 50 trillionRp of special funding under the micro loan (KUR) scheme for farmers to developtechnology-based farming, Antara news agency reported.

The special funding is expected to encouragefarmers to apply modern farming practices with better management, Widodo said atthe opening of the 2nd Asian Agriculture & Food Forum at the State Palaceon March 12.

"We can make a living from agriculture, andagriculture can become a backbone for the country's economy," Widodo wasquoted by the agency as saying. The funding would offer confidence to the bank,he added.

The president called on farmers to utilise thefunding efficiently to develop technology-based farming, such as applicationfor seedling./.
