Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo spoke of the government’s allotment of 50 trillion Rp of special funding under the micro loan (KUR) scheme for farmers to develop technology-based farming, Antara news agency reported.

The special funding is expected to encourage farmers to apply modern farming practices with better management, Widodo said at the opening of the 2nd Asian Agriculture & Food Forum at the State Palace on March 12.

"We can make a living from agriculture, and agriculture can become a backbone for the country's economy," Widodo was quoted by the agency as saying. The funding would offer confidence to the bank, he added.

The president called on farmers to utilise the funding efficiently to develop technology-based farming, such as application for seedling./.
