Jakarta (VNA) – First Admiral Yudo Margono officially took over as head of Indonesia’s Western Fleet Command in a ceremony held at Pondok Dayung military port of Indonesia’s Jakarta on March 15.

The ceremony was chaired by Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Ade Supandi and participated in by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and many officials of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

Yudo Margono, born in 1965, was a student of the Indonesia Naval Academy. Since 2004, he has been appointed to various significant positions in different units of the TNI and the navy.

Indonesia’s Western Fleet Command is tasked with overseeing Pinang and Natuna regions. It is among the most important defence lines of Indonesia, including the country’s islands outpost. It also works with other marine executive forces for the efficient management and exploitation of ocean resources.-VNA
