Sydney (VNA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo will discuss the prospect of joint patrols with Australia in the East Sea when he meets Autralian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull at the weekend.
Speaking with The Australian newspaper, the President said joint patrols may be conducted surrounding the Natuna Islands of Indonesia, the southern part of the East Sea.
An agreement to conduct joint patrols between Indonesia and Australia will be “emphatic evidence that defence relations between the two neighbours sustained no permanent damage from last months’ defence stoush”, he affirmed.
During his two-day visit to Australia from February 25, President Widodo is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Turnbull, the Governor-General of Australia and Indonesia’s business leaders and students.-VNA
