Jakarta (VNA) – Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo has forecast that the country’s value of e-commerce will grow by up to 48.4 percentthis year.
Hesaid digital economic transactions grew very high, supported by easy paymentsystem services as well as changes in the people's preferences for shopping andconducting online transactions amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the third West JavaInvestment Summit 2021 held on October 21, Perry said digital payment and digital banking couldgrow by 35.7 percent and 30.1 percent, respectively.
He pledged tocontinue supporting the digitalisation of financial system by promoting Quick Response Indonesia Standard (QRIS) with cooperation of banks. As many as 11.4million merchants are using the system.
BI will also workwith the Thai Government to incorporate QRIS with Thailand’s similar system tofacilitate bilateral trade, he said./.
