Jakarta governor Joko Widodo took a slim lead in Indonesia ’s July 9 presidential election with 53 percent of the votes while his rival, ex-general Prabowo Subianto earned 47 percent, according to quick-count results.

The results were based on the tally of more than 90 percent of the votes after ballot locations closed at 1 pm (local time).

Shortly after Widodo declared his victory in the election, Subianto claimed that he still has an opportunity to gain a win as some 10 percent of the votes have not yet been tallied.

The final result will be announced by the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) on July 21-22. Any row over it will be submitted to the Indonesian Constitutional Court from July 23-25.-VNA
