General Eiji Kimizuka, Chief of Staff of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force, made a working visit to Indonesia on January 28 to enhance the two countries’ defence cooperation.

Kimizuka visited the Indonesian army’s Special Forces Command (Kopassus) and held talks with its Commander, Major General Agus Sutomo.

Sutomo said that the long-lasting relations and cooperation between the two armies create greater opportunities for their future development.

For his part, Kimizuka described the visit as intensifying the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, especially between Kopassus and the Japanese army, based on mutual respect, trust and common interests.

They said they hope that there will be further delegation exchanges between the two armies to boost mutual understanding as well as bilateral cooperation, especially in emergency response, disaster relief and rescue.-VNA
