Indonesia pours nearly 800 mln USD into new airport terminal

Jakarta (VNA) – Construction of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal No.4 will begin in the first half of 2021, according to President and Director of the State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin.
Awaluddin said the construction will be finished within
three years at the request of President Joko Widodo.
With a total investment of 777 million USD and a capacity of
45 million passengers each year, nearly doubling Terminal No.3’s, the work will
cover a site of 130ha owned by Angkasa
Pura II.
Terminal 4
will be built in anticipation of a surge in international passengers. Last
year, the airport served 67 million passengers, an increase from 46 million in
2017. It currently serves 200,000 passengers daily with more than 1,000
flights.
The construction of Terminal 4 will follow smart mobility, smart environment and smart security concepts with self-check-in counters, self-baggage drop spots and full-body x-ray scanners.
The airport operator will also decide whether the terminal will prioritise low-cost carriers or full-service ones./.
