Indonesia ready for World Economic Forum on East Asia

Preparations for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2015, slated to be held on April 19-21 in Jakarta, are 90 percent complete, according to Indonesian Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel.

All that remains is to double check protocols and the attendance confirmation of guests, he added.

The organising board has sent about 1,000 invitations and so far 600people have confirmed their attendance of the event, includinghigh-ranking officials and business leaders in the region.

Rachmat Gobel said the WEF will be held at the same time as thecommemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference,thus agencies must coordinate to ensure security during the event.

Among the scheduled topics to be discussed at the conference aretrade, food security, energy supply, financial inclusion, strategicinfrastructure, investment, inclusive health and the ASEAN EconomicCommunity (AEC).

The WEF is theinternational institution committed to improving the state of the worldthrough public-private cooperation.

Every yearregional meetings take place in Africa, East Asia, Latin America, andthe Middle East, enabling close contact among corporate businessleaders, local government leaders and NGOs.-VNA
