Preparations for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2015, slated to be held on April 19-21 in Jakarta, are 90 percent complete, according to Indonesian Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel.

All that remains is to double check protocols and the attendance confirmation of guests, he added.

The organising board has sent about 1,000 invitations and so far 600 people have confirmed their attendance of the event, including high-ranking officials and business leaders in the region.

Rachmat Gobel said the WEF will be held at the same time as the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference, thus agencies must coordinate to ensure security during the event.

Among the scheduled topics to be discussed at the conference are trade, food security, energy supply, financial inclusion, strategic infrastructure, investment, inclusive health and the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

The WEF is the international institution committed to improving the state of the world through public-private cooperation.

Every year regional meetings take place in Africa, East Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, enabling close contact among corporate business leaders, local government leaders and NGOs.-VNA
