Jakarta (VNA) - The Indonesian police’s anti-terror squad has arrested five militants who link with the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group in South Sulawesi province, said the spokesman of the provincial police.

The terrorists had plotted to launch attacks on several targets across the country before the squad captured them in Luwu and Bone districts of South Sulawesi province, Dicky Sondani said.

Besides, the squad foiled their secret plans to stage several terrorist attacks, he added.

According to Dicky, the police also seized 15 kg of explosive which will be used to blow up several spots in Indonesia.

The arrested will be rushed to the national police headquarters in Jakarta for investigation, Dicky said

All the five are members of Mujahidin Indonesia Timur, which was affiliated with the global IS terrorist group, according to the police.-VNA
