Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo on October 25 named 12 new deputy ministers in his Cabinet during the 2019 – 2024 tenure.

The inauguration ceremony took place the same day, with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, several ministers and leaders of State organisations and political parties taking part.

Apart from two deputy ministers of state-owned enterprises, there were deputy ministers of foreign affairs; defence; religious affairs; finance; trade; public works and housing; environment and forestry; villages, disadvantaged regions and transmigration; land and spatial planning; and tourism and creative economy.

The appointment took place two days after President Widodo introduced his Cabinet with a total of 34 ministers and four leaders of ministry-level agencies.

The expansion of the Cabinet reflected the President’s wish to gather many representatives from political parties in his administration.

During the second tenure, he pledged to continue upgrading infrastructure, improving personnel quality, and welcoming investors at home and abroad./.
