Quang Ngai (VNA) – An Indian sailor is currently receiving medical treatment from border guards and the military health centre of Ly Son island district of the central province of Quang Ngai.

Earlier on November 26, the Dolphin 89 transport vessel was en route from the Philippines to Vietnam’s Hai Phong port. When the ship passed through Ly Son’s waters to strengthen its equipment against the impact of Typhoon Usagi, sailor Danish Christen Salins (born in 1986) had his fingers seriously injured as his hand was crushed by the crane cable.

Captain Pham Tuan Anh decided to anchor the ship in a location 3 nautical miles southeast of Ly Son island to treat his crew member’s wound.

Upon receiving the information, Ly Son border guards and coast guards sent vehicles to bring the injured sailor to the island’s health centre.

His physical condition has now been reported as stable. –VNA
