Artists from The Ordos Music and Dance Troupe from China ’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region will showcase their tradition music, songs and dances in Hanoi and Hai Phong this week.

Inner Mongolians are well known for their singing and dancing talents. The show opens with a dance symbolising the sky, clouds, grass and flowers.

The people, who have lived on vast grasslands for centuries, have harmonised their love of singing and dancing with their surroundings. All ages can sing folk songs and when proposing toasts to guests, they show their hospitality with folk songs and by playing special fiddles.

The show will feature grassland themes and a strong ethnic influence centred on songs and other major influences.

Established in 1960, the troupe has won prizes in art festivals at home and abroad. It has toured France , Switzerland , Italy , Japan , Pakistan , Hungary and Poland .

The shows are Sept.2 and Sept. 3 at 8pm at the Hanoi Opera House and the Military Theatre, and in Hai Phong’s Thang Tam Theatre on Sept. 5./.
