Hanoi (VNA) – The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee has ordered the Government Inspectorate to speed up the inspection over the purchase of 95 percent of shares at the AVG Audiovisual JSC by the MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation.

The Secretariat was briefed on the inspection’s results during its recent meeting chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

It said that this deal is a very serious, complicated and sensitive case which has caught special public attention.

The Government Inspectorate thoroughly inspected the case and reported the results to the Secretariat.

The Secretariat asked the standing board and inspectorate of the Government to soon announce the inspection results in conformity with law.

Relevant agencies were required to quickly tackle the case in an objective manner in accordance with the Party’s regulations and the State’s law to ensure punishment goes to right individuals and lost State assets are revoked.

MobiFone, the second largest mobile network operator in Vietnam, reached revenues of over 44 trillion VND (1.92 billion USD) in 2017.

AVG, owner of An Vien pay TV, had 8 channels and more than 700,000 subscribers before the deal was made.-VNA
