Inspections discover loopholes in mining, land allocation
Government inspectors have so far this year discovered almost 1.27

reclaiming 929 billion VND for the State coffer.

trillion VND (roughly 67.1 million USD) misappropriated in eight cases,
reclaiming 929 billion VND for the State coffer.
These cases were mostly in licensing mining projects which was either licensed by unauthorised agencies or lacked grassroots examination of project designs.
Loose land management was another big problem as inspections reported that allocation of land for resettlement went to wrong people and compensations for displaced tenants were unreasonable.
They also found some necessary administrative steps in land use planning, land allocation and ground clearance neglected, thus blocking the project progress.
In April and May, 502 new inspections were launched with 386 of them coming to conclusion.
Inspectors reported the misappropriation of almost 43.63 billion VND and more than 21,000 sq. m. of land and proposed responsible agencies recover almost 28.53 billion VND and more than 18.570 sq. m. of land.
A massive number of units and individuals were fined while several cases were put under further investigation./.
