Intel opens biggest micro-chip plant in Vietnam

The US-based Intel group officially inaugurated a micro-chip factory in Ho Chi Minh City ’s Hi-tech Zone on October 29, its biggest in the world and the first semiconductor plant in Vietnam .
The US-based Intel group officially inaugurated a micro-chip factoryin Ho Chi Minh City ’s Hi-tech Zone on October 29, its biggest in theworld and the first semiconductor plant in Vietnam .

The 1-billion USD project started operating earlier this year, makingchips for laptops and other mobile devices. It is expected to produce820 million units per year.

After stressing thesignificance of the project, which will help Vietnam to carry outits National Strategy on Information Technology Development up to 2020,Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai praised Intel’s commitment tohelping the Vietnamese Government to enhance education and training.

Intel’s president and CEO Paul Otellini re-affirmed the group’slong-term plans in Vietnam . He added that Intel had also made a dealwith several Vietnamese government agencies to upgrade e-government andpersonal computer and broadband networks. Intel is also helpingVietnam to increase growth and improve its competitiveness./.

Quang Tri province mobilises resources for fisheries infrastructure
