Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan and US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Michalak have pressed a button to launch a web page on Vietnam’s intellectual property rights (IPR) implementation database on the ministry’s website.
Addressing the event on August 18, US Ambassador Michalak stressed the importance of protecting IPR in building the knowledge-based economy.
He commended Vietnam’s efforts in amending and finalising IPR legal frameworks, saying that Vietnam however, like other countries, is facing challenges in strictly and effectively implementing legal documents.
The web page - the country’s first important database in implementing IPR - will provide viewers with information on the country’s typical IPR cases as well as create an information channel for central and local agencies and organisations in settling IPR violations.
It is expected to increase the transparency of science and technology inspection agencies in its inspection and dealing with violations./.
