The third International Kite Festival 2011 opened in Vung Tau city, the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, on April 8.

A total of 146 artisans from 20 countries and territories are showcasing their skills at the three-day event. The host nation sent five teams representing Hanoi, Hue city, Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau city to the event.

A two-hour kite flying programme themed “Sharing a sky” will be held at Paradise Resort in the evening of April 9.

Audiences will be entertained with colorful kites in different shapes, sizes and materials, featuring designs from many traditional cultures.

The second International Kite Festival themed “"Legends of a Thousand years” was held in Vung Tau in March, 2010. The festival attracted 69 international kite flyers from 26 countries and territories in addition to 70 artisans from different parts of Vietnam./.
