The International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL) has been very concerned about China's actions which have adversely impacted the international situation, IADL President Jeanne Mirer has said.

The IADL President made the statement at a July 25 reception hosted by Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem.

She said the IADL’s involvement in the international seminar on the East Sea in Ho Chi Minh City is to contribute its voice for the peaceful settlement of disputes in the interests of the two peoples and for the sake of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the globe.

Liem appreciated her participation in important events referring to legal issues related to the East Sea situation held in the City on July 26.

Liem said that he believes the Association will continue supporting Vietnam's struggle against the illegal actions by China in Vietnam’s territorial waters and ask China to comply with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

On this occasion Liem thanked Jeanne Mirer and her association for actively backing Vietnam in many issues, such as supporting Vietnam’s stance of settling disputes in the East Sea over the recent past and protecting the legitimate rights of the victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.-VNA
