Earlier on July 28, observers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) also expressed satisfaction at the election process.

According to the preliminary results, the Cambodia People’s Party won 68 seats out of 123 seats in the National Assembly. The party issued a statement expressing gratitude to voters for voting for the party and affirming its firm stance of protecting the nation and people’s rights in all situations.

On July 29, the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) held a press briefing rejecting the preliminary results of the election.

CNRP's leader Sam Rainsy called for the establishment of a joint committee in order to investigate the irregularities.

Preliminary results showed the CNRP got 55 seats.

According to NEC Secretary General Tep Nytha, the committee is concluding the final steps to announce the election’s temporary results before August 10.-VNA
