The ninth Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) is taking place in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia on November 28, with the presence of some 1,500 participants from 31 countries worldwide.

This year’s event is themed “Managing Market, Strengthening Industry Value Chain”.

The two-day conference discusses the challenges facing the palm oil industry such as climate change, global market trends, next year’s palm oil price outlook, population and reforestation issues related to sustainable palm oil production in the future, said the IPOC 2013 organising committee’s chairperson Mona Surya.

It also focuses on the current developments of the international palm oil industry and its 2014 outlook, and also intends to promote the Indonesian palm oil trade internationally.

Speakers at the conference will include Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Agriculture Minister Suswono, Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Mahendra Siregar, and Chairman of the National Economic Committee Chairul Tanjung.

An exhibition on the palm oil industry will also be held on the sideline of the conference. Some 62 companies will participate in the expo, displaying various palm oil products and the latest technology and services in the industry.-VNA
