More than one hundred local and foreign enterprises are showcasing their wares at the international expo on textile and garment machinery and raw materials opened Hanoi on October 15.

During the opening ceremony, Le Tien Truong, General Director of the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), said this year’s event had grown substantially compared to 2012.

Due to an increasing demand for textile dyes, an entirely new area was opened at this year’s trade fair to introduce relevant techniques and products.

The event is organised by Vinatex and lasts until October 17.

According to Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s textile and garment industry, involving 6,000 businesses, is estimated to achieve an export turnover of 25.4 billion USD in 2014, a 19 percent year-on-year increase.

With considerable results achieved in recent years, the free trade agreements currently under negotiation, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, will create more opportunities for the industry to thrive, he added.-VNA
